While sitting atop of "The Freeway" tonight, watching little neon colored skittle thugs learn how to backside board slide, I overheard an ad on the radio from Pepsi. You may have heard it on the airwaves, and I am sorry for getting this wrong, but it made my night... It goes something along these lines: They said I couldn’t fly, so I invented the airplane, the rocket, the space shuttle, and I walked on the moon.... (Continues with) I invented rock and roll, jazz, and funk... I wore poodle skirts and cardigans, and when I got back from WW2 I only had a T-shirt, so I made that cool. I wanted to write a letter, so I put one on a stage coach, but that was too slow. So I sent mail with trucks and ships, but that wasn’t fast enough. I threw away my pen and paper and sent my mail with magic, I called it e-mail. I came up with words such as "bling" and "google".

The advertisement adds more to what I have brought up, but either way it is true, everything we take advantage of was all brought upon by the young, whether being young in age or young at heart.

Watching these little shred gnars at Buck hill is always a reminder of the young hearted that we all need to keep within ourselves. Joe, age 13, rides a Nitro board that he got from his brother for Christmas. Solid on his front side board slides, working on his backsides.... Or little Katie, who at the tender age of four could care less that she cannot turn or stop, but is sooooo excited that she can go from the TOP of the wonder carpet to the BOTTOM of the wonder carpet without hitting another Buck Hill rider. A total distance that in this state in measured as shy of a first down. Little Katie could be the next Vonn, the next Sarah Burke, or the first female president. Too many determinate faces that get out there every night to gnar the cold that Buck Hill offers, without ONE complaint. (other than why are you turning the rope tow off at 9:30pm?) Cheers to those kids, being young, staying young... Something I think we can all learn from. Cheers!

Patrick and I just moved back to the land of 100000000 lakes. Spending the last 7 plus years of our lives skiing and experiencing the "ski bum" lifestyle, Minnesota brings a new perspective about a sport we are truly passionate about. Patrick and I currently work at Buck Hill Ski Area located in Burnsville, Minnesota, the same mound of glacial remains that we were both raised two planking at the tender age of two. Being back in the Midwest has left Pat and I in awe of the passion the folks around this area have for skiing, wether paying for your lift ticket with dimes and nickels, or spending 8 hours of your Sunday lapping Americas longest magic carpet... Passionate, incredible, remarkable, Minnesota...

This blog was built for Patrick and I to share our perspective of a sport we soo, sooo much love... And also a quick reminder to those living/working at some of Americas top resorts to appreciate what they have, some folks out there rock jeans and starter jackets on a daily basis and have a bigger shit grin on their face than pros nuking lines in Greenland off of Redbull choppers that they didn't have to pay squat for. So keep that in mind next time you pass up a day because its too cold or the 6 inches of freshies last night don't meet your standards, there is someone out there who is having fun sliding down a hill that has less vertical than your lodge. Either way, stay stoked, keep smiling, and remember, we all love this sport from super beginner to Ninja Assassin Switch Uber Green Beret Seal Skier dude...

Cheers!
